"Kondjigbale", A Health Book Like No Other

March 18, 2021 | by: David Kodjani

Kondjigbalé is a startup specializing in the design of digital solutions adapted to the health sector. It is accessible via the Internet or SMS in offline areas. This project was developed by 3 young Togolese headed by Yvon Koudam who acts as CEO.

The digital medical logbook was launched in May 2019 and is now one of the 10 finalists of the Africa Challenge App, a competition organized by RFI and France 24 whose objective is to support mobile solutions or innovative web applications to combat epidemics.

Kondjibalé is first, according to Mr. Yves, a digital health record, a kind of health passport and then a platform that allows the patient to properly manage his medical history. To the doctor, it facilitates diagnosis and makes everything that goes into the process of treating a patient easier and faster. The platform has 4 channels namely a website, a mobile application, a call center in local languages and a USSD menu. The last two are intended for areas that are not connected or have internet coverage.

The idea for this digital medical diary is based on the observation that "current health diaries are in paper and it often happens that we lose them or sometimes forget them. Which makes it difficult to have a history of our state of health. It also makes the task difficult for the medical profession because the diagnosis becomes a chain of exercises to be done. Sometimes people lose their lives while waiting for results which ultimately come late. " Mr. Koudam told our colleagues at Togo First before continuing "We thought of a solution that would help the health system to maintain and save more lives. This is where the idea for Kondjigbalē was born. "

With Kondjibalé, it is possible to:

  • Consult your history,
  • Make an appointment with the doctor,
  • Order and have medications delivered,
  • Receive dosage or advice alerts,
  • Discuss with a doctor or a specialist,
  • Receive analysis results , the list of nearest available pharmacies with the products you want.

Note this digital innovation was worth, for the CEO, an audience with the Head of the Togolese government, Victoire Tomégah-Dogbé, on Wednesday February 17, 2021.
