Profile: Charles Mwangi, Kenya Space Agency research manager.

Charles Mwangi is responsible for research, education and outreach at theKenya Space Agency (KSA). He represents Kenya as an alternate member of the Earth Observation Group (GEO) Program Council.

Charles Mwangi leads several projects at KSA, such as the ongoing project supported by the Group on Earth Observation (GEO) using the Google Earth Engine platform to develop Earth observation applications to monitor forests, urbanization and flooding.

In addition, he oversees the implementation of the Nanosatellite Development Research Chairs awarded to FIVE Kenyan universities.

Mr. Mwangi holds a Masters in Electrical Engineering (Control Engineering) from the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture, an International Masters in Space Mission Design and Management from the University of Rome, La Sapienza and 'a bachelor's degree in technological education (electrical and electronic engineering) from Moi University.

He was part of the team that developed Kenya's first satellite (CubeSat), dubbed 1KUNS-PF, launched on May 11, 2018.
