The coronavirus pandemic has spared no country in the world. When the coronavirus reached Togo in March 2020, like everywhere else in the world, its leaders initiated containment by asking citizens to stay at home.
This has affected the income of some households and small entrepreneurs.
To get emergency funds to the most vulnerable people, Togolese leaders have used a new high-tech system.
It consists of looking for indices of poverty on satellite images and distributing money by mobile phone. This financial aid distribution action, called Novissi, helps many Togolese households.
As of April 28, 2021, Togo has 12,000 884 confirmed cases in total, 10,927 cured cases and 122 deaths.
